Hi Dave, here's my warped perception. Building a homemade boat has its practical and reasonable aspects: saving money, customization... But there are lots of other aspects too. People use CF for a bunch of different reasons. The overriding reason would simply be the desire to experiment. CF has its cosmetic appeal as well and then there's the coolness factor too... For whatever reason you decide on, using CF is just another way to have fun building your boat :)
