: ....Do you think only one layer of the 6oz s-glass is enough? What gets
: compromised with only one layer? Longevity?.....

This is a tough question to answer. If you often drive your boat onto oyster shells, one layer is not enough. If you are reasonably careful, then one layer is probably fine. If you paddle exposed remote coastlines where you might be forced to land on wave swept shingle beaches, then two layers would be the minimum. It depends on where you paddle and how you treat your boat. Having recently had back surgery, I want something I can lift easily. So it's one layer for me.

: ....Which resin do you think you'll use on your boat with the s-glass? I did a
: S&G with 6oz (standard stuff, I think) and had no problems with it at all
: (MAS). How much harder is the s-glass to work with?....

I'm thinking about using System Three Clear Coat for sealing and wet-out, at least on the exterior. I'm waiting for a sample layup to harden up for impact testing. The wet-out was excellent. I have a supply of MAS that I will use on the interior. I was going to use MAS for fill, but since the Clear Coat has no yellow cast like MAS, I'm leary of getting a mottled look after sanding. S-2 glass is stiffer, so it is bound to be a bit harder to work with. I don't have any experience yet to know how much more difficult it will be.

: ps how did you do those knee hooks? Cool.

The hooks were beveled to have a 15 degree downward slant and carved to have a leg fitting curve. There is regular glass covering the top including coaming and several layers of glass and CF strengthening the bottom.
