Hey Myrl - Thanks for the kind words on the veneer work.

If you have ideas on some type of veneer pattern in mind, I think you wouldn't have a durability problem with applying the veneer over the glass you have on the deck. When I sealed the deck and added a fill coat, then knocked of the edges of the veneer and added a final fill coat, it was remarkably durable even without the glass. Granted it was a little thick, but with all the little cracks and crevases in all the veneer pieces, the extra fill coat will help to eliminate trapped air and bubbles when I glass. (Which I did this evening). Another layer of glass probably won't be needed in my opinion.

Just be sure that you can epoxy over varnish or maybe you'll have to remove the varnish. This being my first project, I'm not qualified to answer that. Maybe someone else can advise you on this.
