Hello Grant,
Shipment of wooden kayaks can be done by building a wooden crate. By suspending the kayak within the crate with straps it is possible to eliminate any damage to your handiwork - note in this photo how the kayak is suspended even if the crate were turned on it's side or upside down.

: How do they ship a wooden kayak within North America? Is it boxed up in it's own crate and then shipped Fedex?
