If you went through on dime size, you may have weakend the fibers around in a bigger area.
If you are crawling back up into the cockpit, sitting on the deck, or rescuing someone, much of the strenght in the glass-wood-glass composit comes from the underside of the deck. So I think I would put a glass patch on. Since it is on the underside, it does not have to be fancy.... and would not me much more work than a layer of epoxy only.
I'd think if you make sure there are no sharp edges, then you should be okay.
