If you can't get a power sander in there, then make yourself a sanding paddle.

Essentually, a stick with a pad on the end. Staple sand paper over the padded stick to get an
extendo sanding pad. Get into tight places. Start with a very course grit like 36, then
50, 80, and 120.

Make the handle big and you can use two hands.
