: I would like your advice on an idea that I have. It is about making the hole
: that the grab loop line goes through. I have thought of using a lot of
: different materials i.e. PVC., copper tube, and a wooden tube. I don't
: know if I like any of theses option. The only one that I have seriously
: considered is a wooden tube. Then I thought could I make one out of
: fiberglass then just pour the end-pour around it? Anyway, enough history.
: This is my idea.

: 1. Drill about a 5/8" hole through both sides of the hull.
: 2. Glass the inside of the holes.
: 3. Get a piece of clear hose, or a piece that will expand. That has a
: 1/2" O.D..
: 4. Plug one end with a plug and hose clamp.
: 5. Insert it through the hull making it form an arc so it would look
: something like this. (use your imagination) " c> " The arc
: would relieve some of the stress on the grab line.
: 6. Take another plug and insert a air stem from a bicycle tire in the middle
: of it.
: 7. Use it to plug the other end of the tube.
: 8. Then take a HAND-AIRPUMP and pump enough air into it to make it expand to
: fit the holes in the hull.
: 9. Coat it with epoxy and a couple layers of glass.
: 10. When it is almost fully cured let the air out of the tube.
: 11. Then pull the tube out of the hole.
: 12. Sand the cold seam around the holes in the hull and give them a coat of
: epoxy.
: 13. Then once the hull and deck is together do the end
1 Take 1" dia. dole about 1" long and bore out 3/4".
2 Drill a hole for the rope in the end of the dole not bored out.
3 Feed rope thru the hule and the dole, tie a knot in the rope and pull the knot into the bored out dole.
4 Cut another piece of dole to use as an end cap and apoxy together
5 When the glue has set apoxy to the inside of the boat.
6 I fed the rope thru a 6" length of rubber air line to make it easyer on the hands.
7 Repeat on the other side to complete the loope and you will have a water tight handle (hopefully).
