Most of the time creases occur when it's stored folded rather than rolled.
You could try rolling it tightly on a roll with the creases facing inward toward the roll.

Maybe when you lay the cloth out on the boat, you can also lay the glass so the crease is not sticking up, but down instead so the gravity of the other surrounding fibers are working against the crease.
