I have a question as to the what material to use for a strip build kayak. I have access to a lot of white spruce (latin name Picea glauca) in fairly long clear lenghts. Is this wood approprate for use in a strip built kayak?
White spruce is a very light colored wood and I think it would look very good with cedar feature strips. Plus, it is very cheap and it is hard to me to use a more expensive wood if it will suffice.
