I tried using a bandsaw and quickly decided that for me, it wasn't going to well. I found that using my table saw worked really well. I cut them about 3/8 inch thick, then planed them to 1/4 inch. Then I used a router table for making coves and beads. You can see the sequence at http://www.seaspiritkayaks.com/SSS17/002_Strips/sss17strips_1.htm
