If you get one, make sure you get the blade holder for sharpening it, too. The small blade is hard to handle without it.
I haven't seen the L-N shaves yet. Of the two, I would think the Boggs shave, with its wider sole, would be the most useful for boat and paddle work.
Just in case you have any questions about L-N and Veritas block planes...
I have one of L-N's small block planes and it's one of my favorite tools. However, the new Veritas Apron Plane looks really nice for the money. I've been very happy with their low angled block plane and would probably go with the Apron Plane over the L-N if I were buying new tools.
