It's a slick looking boat and you are to be commended for getting from the concept to the splash. I may be wrong but I don't think it's a pirogue. Every pirogue design I've ever seen has a flat bottom to keep the draft to a minimum.
What you've done is a lot more complex than the typical pirogue built from 3 flat panels.
I hope you get the handling questions sorted out.
Keep us posted on future developements.

: I played around with the Carene5.exe program designing a pirogue. Made
: several 18" models to get a feel for the looks and then a full size
: foot long cutout where I would be seated to see how it looked for size and
: paddling. Went through 6 major changes till I decided I could wait no
: longer to start building.

: I never could figure out how to make a sharp bow at both ends with the
: Carene5 program so just printed my plates and cut them off half way and
: made two bows so to speak.

: Turned out longer than I planned at 13' 9" LOA and 31" beam. Might
: cut off the stern to be square just at the end of the bottom plates.

: The launch yesterday went fine, needs a keel VERY BAD, but otherwise worked
: pretty well. It tracks much better (requires a strong J stroke) at speed
: however, and is pretty fast.

: Bottom plates are 1/4" laun, rest is 1/8" doorskin. Scraps of
: fiberglass everywhere, tho did use full size 4oz doubled on the bottom.
: Weights 39 lbs presently, but the keel add, will boost that some. Also
: plan to add a plastic wally world seat.
