: No experience with Dado Blades per se, but have a lot with radial arm saws
: and table saws I own / have owned. Blade wobble is no good no matter what
: kind of blade is in the saw. The first thing I would check is if the Arbor
: fits the hole in the saw blade. Some blades have different size arbor
: knockouts that fit different size mounting arbors on the saw.

Dave,

With normal blades you are 100% right on. But this is certainly NOT a normal blade.

You gotta rush down to the hardware store and get one of these things. The "wobble" is built in! Try one and watch with awe.

The basic idea behind these variable dado blades is that they are mounted so the blade can be set at an angle to the arbor. The more the angle deviates from 90 degrees from the arbor, the wider the swath of the cut.

So, if you set the dang thing so the bottom of the blade is 3/8 th inch out to the left of plumb, then the top of the blade will be a corresponding 3/8th of an inch to the right of plumb. In one revolution of the blade some of the teeth will fall somewhere inside an area 3/4 inch wide. Of course if the adjsutment is not so severe then you can get narower dado cuts, too.

It is a cute gadget, but it cuts a little slower than a "real" dado.

Another option is a router w/ a straight bit.
