Hey, folks. I may decide to grind off all the glass from my deck and start over(the "I blew my deck" post from Monday). I just can't get past the size and quantity of the imperfections, and I've caught myself avoiding showing the boat to visitors because I was embarrassed by the deck. I just won't be happy until it's fixed. The decison isn't entirely made yet, so I have an additional question.

If I re-do the deck glassing, I'm puzzled about how much sanding I have to do once the glass is off. That is, how deep did the resin soak in? I need to get deep enough to get rid of some splotches left by the tinted Durhams. The concern is that if the resin soaked in really well, then I may have to go deep which will put me in danger of sanding all the way through, or opening up some areas where sanding is creating gaps where there were none before. If it just barely soaks in to the surface, then I'm fine. I'm also concerend that if I leave any of the resin, then I'll still have a splotchy deck, but for different reasons.

So, at what point do I stop sanding? All the way to bare wood with no signs of resin and hope I don't go through, or what? What if some spots still have soaked in resin and some are bare wood... will that show up differnetly once I've reapplied the glass?
