Wobble blades don't wobble

I know this may be a little nit-picky and just an issue of what we call things, but for those of you that think the wobble dado blades actually wobble - they don't.

I know they look like they are wobbling, but each tooth goes in a perfect circle and there is no side-to-side motion of any one tooth. It's just that each tooth is in a different location that gives the perception of wobbling.

The increased noice is because each tooth is cutting its own path rather than all the teeth. A stacked dado has a lot more teeth doing the cutting and is quieter.

The other tradeoff is the slight curve in the bottom of the dado slot. Most wobble blades are design to cut a flat bottom at one width. Narrower slots produce a humped bottom and wider ones produce a dished bottom.

Hope this is helpful.

Steve
