John,

I highly recommend that, before applying any resin to your boat, you test for good wet-out using your chosen combo of resin and glass on a piece of scrap. Some builders have had difficulty with this glass. In my limited tests, it worked perfectly with MAS, even at cool temperatures.

As far as the steel wool goes, I would be worried about oil in the wool getting on the boat. I suspect this could cause "fish eye" type problems in the resin. Also, I think fragments of steel could cause stains if wet with water. Perhaps the experts on this board can add more info.
