I did use cove and bead, but had trouble where the deck transitioned from round to flat and at the same time had some curvature along the sheerline. Later I discovered that if I had twisted the strip in the opposite direction there would have been no gap. However, I decided not to do it over and try to fill in the gap. You can see the result.
