: I've been playing around with some ideas for flush fittings. I have the plans
: for wood ones from Shearwater and I have seen ones made up from PVC caps
: with a rod thru o hole in the cap.
: I used a 1/4" plexiglass rod in one mock up and it looked sort of cool.
: The store had several colors of the rod material, and I got to thinking,,
: ?? What if I could find a cap made out of material like the plexi-rods??
: The PVC caps work, but they look like PVC,Duh!
: Any ideas out there?? Thanks Terry
Terry,
You could make your own caps from acrylic stock - the stuff is pretty easy to polish after cutting/routing/machining. Or, you could make a mold and cast the parts. McMaster-Carr has a fair selection of acrylic, and Tap Plastics has all the stuff needed for casting.
