I went with the iron on tape, 7/8" mahogany. Over the weekend, I ironed it onto one side, sanded down the edges a bit, and applied enough epoxy coatings
to get a pretty smooth transition to the hull for the glass application looming ever closer. It took four coats of epoxy to get it to where I was satisfied.

I did the last two by using fast curing hardener, putting it in a plastic bag and waiting a few minutes until it started getting hot. Then I cut out a tiny corner and squeezed a bead along the veneer edge. Then all I had to do was run the squeegee along the edges to smooth and watch for drips. Pretty easy. The glass ought to go over it very nicely with a minimum of air bubbles.

For anyone considering veneer on Okoume, mahogany looks really classy. The contrast is striking and it breaks up the monotone color well.

Now need to flip and do the other side. Hope to be glassing this weekend. Gulp.
