: If you are using MEK you aren't using epoxy, but that's OK. If it stinks to
: high heaven it is polyester. You may be able to mix up a "hot"
: batch of resin with too much MEK and paint it on over the slow stuff and
: help get it to kick. The downside of this is if the stuff under the new
: coat does not kick it is harder to clean, but I expect you can force it.
: Also get the boat warm to speed up the reaction. But don't use open flame
: to warm it polyester contains a lot of solvents which are highly
: flammable.

If it is indeed polyester resin, it needs to be sealed from contact with air in order for the outer surface to cure. He can probably spray the original coat with PVA to accomplish this. I've heard of people using PAM and similar sprays, but I wouldn't vouch for their effectiveness.
