Second that. I have less than $300 in a trailer purchased from Harbor Freight. I just returned from vacation hauling 2 kayaks (and gear) about 600 miles with no problems. I used the 4x3 trailer with a few modifications (longer tounge, rack to hold the yaks, and 2 storage boxes purchased at Wal-Mart for 16.96 each)

Trailer $140 (on sale)
Boxes $ 34
Materials $ 60
Longer harness $ 12
Foam Blocks $ 10
PLywood (bottom)$ 19
Straps (4pack) $ 15
Total $290

Just can't beat it. I'll try to post some pics of the rig later.
