: I'm pretty unclear about what you do when you get to the ends of the boat.
: John Michne's Fiberglassing 101 says not to try to wrap around the ends
: with the glass but just glass up to the end. He also says you can cut a
: little strip out to glass over those "stems" if you want. I'm
: going to put brass stems on both ends and run them about 2 feet down the
: keel on each end.
: So do I cut a "v" out of the glass on the ends so it lays along the
: side? Wish I could draw a picture. This is a stitch and glue canoe so
: there aren't any stems. It just comes together at the ends.
: Other S&G builders - canoes or kayaks - how did you do the ends?

I've had my S&G out a few tiems already this year and managed to chew up the bow and stern. I've been thinking of capping the keel with a soft metal. Brass sounds like a great idea. I'll be able to screw and glue the stems into the end pours. That will be my July progect. Thanks for the idea, Patsy. By the way, I did manage to wrap the glass around the stern and bow but not without a lot of trouble. It was a lot of extra work to fill in the bumps and grooves to get a smooth surface but I got it.
