Well Guys & Gals,

I have just spent three days and most of the nights in a state of panic and frustration. I shoulda listened to the majority.

After two test boards, I thought I was ready to apply the 5oz glass. Ego is a terrible thing, especially mine.

I have rendered most of 18yds of 60" fiberglass unusable, made three aborted attempts and have finally got the hull glassed. I can say it is only "pretty good". Mostly clear but there are still areas of less than total wet out. I am using West System epoxy. I didn't touch the epoxy with a brush or roller and didn't let the squeegee touch the glass. I just kept slopping the stuff on as fast as it ran off. There is about ten times more epoxy on the floor than the hull before scraping off the excess gunk. At least I don't have any bubbles or blisters.

The way it acts, I would expect a thinner slower epoxy, like Raka, would work better if it could be kept on the vertical surfaces at all times.

The one thing that can be said for the 5oz. is that the weave fills with one or two relatively thin coats.

I guess the real test will be when I get a good clear finish so I can really see what it looks like.

I don't think I will use it again on the outside. Maybe inside...

This hasn't been as much fun, I need to get by this faze and on to something else.
