: The book says 1.1 gal. How much should I get?(this my first boat)
A couple of things to keep in mind.
1. Epoxy keeps *very well*. [like 10+ years in an unheated garage in NY]
2. it comes in handy for other projects even if you never build another boat.
3. The more you buy, the cheaper it gets.
4. There is nothing so frustrating as runing out in the middle of a job.
5. stuff happens.
I have only worked with epoxy once. I did a S&G boat a long time ago. The author of that book said 1 gallon would be plenty. I used nearly three. I was a little sloppy, went way overboard in all my fillets, didn't know about squeegees, and I mis-mixed a batch & had to toss it.
When I get around to building my Guillemot I'll be buying the 3 gallon deal from RAKA.
