The other obvious choice would be to put the pump behind a bulkhead with the button poking through. You could access the pump through an additional little hatch opening in the deck. Of course, then you would lose the fore/aft adjustability. Another idea would be to leave the design the way you've drawn it but put a small access hatch over it; that would give youe easy access to the extreme front end of the cockpit. Just some random thoughts :)
