I agree with Mike Allen. Mount the pump as high as practical to make it easier to operate.

BTW, I hope you're happy with the pump when you get all done. My King project won't have a pump because it takes twice as much effort as a hand pump. I like the safety aspect of the built in pump, (offset by the weight) but I'm really glad I haven't had to use it. In my Return, I carry a hand pump in addition and would use the hand pump as my first choice just because of the difference in volume output.
