Hey John,

Thanks for the kind words. The deck is white pine and walnut. The entire area of the cockpit will be walnut as well. I had planed on using some white pine in the cockpit area, but, decided all walnut would look better. The hull is all WRC except for the stripes at the Sheer line area - pine and walnut, and the outer stems are walnut.

I had a little shrinkage in the walnut, but the worst places were in the white pine. And, as we all know, its easier to fill dark wood without it showing than the lighter colored wood. So, you guessed it, the filler on the pine sticks out like a sore thumb! But, that just gives me a reason to build another one - right?? In fact I'm already planning on building the next one for my Daughter.

And I don't know of a better reason to build another yak than "just because I enjoy it so much"! We can never build too many boats! And there's a lot worse things we could be doing with our time.
