Actually I have 4 scotty rod holders that I bought from Cabela's on my current fishing kayak. This is actually a decked pirogue with a pretty large cockpit. I have all the room in the world. The strip built fishing/utility/expedition kayak I'm working on now is another matter. I'll have to put some thought into the rod holders, lights, etc. for this kayak. I saw one post where a curved section of strips was made up to fit under the coaming lip and extended a little forward, being held down by the deck bungees. It looked good and has possibilities. I've seen others using a combination of molded in pvc pipe to hold rods, nets, lights, etc. Something that adds to...rather than detracts from the look of the boat is the ideal even though my kayak, and probably yours, is going to be used hard. Most of the guys I fish with are using SOTs. Looks are not primary for them. Your boat is certainly nice enough to want it to stay that way regardless how you use it. Be sure and post pictures of what you come up with. It might help me...and others. You just can't imagine what it looks like for me to be trolling for stripers, or white bass, in Belton Lake with 4 rods sticking out and my fishfinder perking away. Lots of bass boats have pulled over to look the rig over. And I do catch fish.
I also have plenty of things to do...but now that you've mentioned it I may have to take a look at the moth shiny stuff under a microscope. I just gotta know.
