We put down the second, full layer of glass over the football yesterday afternoon. It took us the same amount of time to do the full layer as it did to do the football. I guess we're getting better at it.

Once again, it went very smoothly. Lots of concern about areas that looked like they might have spaces underneath - like around the bends between the panels and over the veneer - but I pushed them down many times and they turned out fine. I think I imagined most of them.

So the hull is fully fiberglassed and it's beautiful. It is so cool to see the grain of the wood. There are many, many imperfections but not a one really bothers me. I've learned how not to make the same mistakes on my next one and the canoe is beautiful even with all its flaws. I did the best I could and couldn't be happier with my first attempt.

Still much to do but I'm a happy camper.
