Hey Steve,

That looks exactly like the spots I got. If you look at your pic, it looks like the voids between the strands of glass (the strands are clear)are full of sanding ?dust? from the green epoxy. Those little particles bond to each other and get stuck down in the voids because it is still somewhat tacky. And, since they are clumped together in a little ball, they don't or can't absorb enough epoxy on the next fill coat to go clear.

This is just my opinion, but, I really think its on the money. Anyway, after all that I did to make sure the surface was clean before the fill coat, and I still got the spots . . I'll do my best to avoid piecing layers of glass together on the outside again thereby avoiding the need to feather. If I do have to do it, I'll let it cure out before sanding. That way the dust will actually BE dust and not little lumps of green epoxy just waiting to screw up my work!! If its completely cured, all the dust can be cleaned off.

The good news is that some of the spots went clear over night. So, its not very bad. And, all the white on the hull (epoxy starvation) are gone now.

I'm thinkin', finish as is and use it till cooler weather. If it still bugs me, sand that partial second layer off and replace it with a full layer. That should get rid of the spots.

Also, I've got to do a little sanding around the coaming fillet (green sanding again) so I'm going to collect the green dust(actually white), roll it into a ball and drop it into some epoxy and see if it will go clear.

Anyway, got to go and see if I've got enough cloth left to do another full layer on the hull. (last layer)

We may not know it all, but, we're learning!

Happy Building.

Charles.
