: Folks: Someone give me a hint at how to start those first strips in the
: recess area on my Guillemot. I've cut the thing and cleaned the edges. But
: I'm having a hell of a time fitting the first strip at the back and the
: first strip at the front. Not only do these need to be cut to fit, but the
: deck curvature works against me as well. It almost seems like I should
: double the thickness of the first strip, match the round (or pointed in
: front) end and sand it down after the glues dries.
: Any input?
Could you go with two smaller strips, that is instead of having the tip of the triangle at the 3/4inch point, have it at the 1/2 or 3/8 inch point? Thus your first strip would be narrower? (but still 1/4 inch thick)
The picture may or may not help, but everyone likes pictures(?) I do recall I did a bit of what I'm talking about. The original piece, I just kept sanding down one edge, until the the strip fit best.
good luck
