Grant,

I had the same issues with the deck of my Cirrus. I'm betting the experts round here would suggest that you cut the joint and re-align it.

The problem will be when you come to fair out the surface. You will have obvious deviations and lines that are not true. You will also be prone to sand into the end grain of the high panel.

I filled as you did and prayed that glassing would smooth out the errors. I did not have problems with glass lifting or bubbles in those areas. I do have the linear deviations that are purely asthetic issues and I'll try to hide as best I can. I guess these lessons have to be learned the hard way. Just like sanding drips and sloppy use of epoxy. Lesson learned.
