In Response To: glass the coaming (DAVE SPRYGADA)

: Wes- I just did 2 coamings on my double and had no problems having it lay
: down. Make sure to cut the glass on the bias (mine was 30 degrees) and to
: radius the bottom where the coaming meets the deck so you can wrap the
: cloth under the deck. Charles was right on with wetting the inside of the
: coaming to hold it in place as you smooth it down as you go around. Use a
: brush to apply the epoxy and smooth into place. Use a squeege to smooth
: out and gloved finger worked very well to get the underside of the lip.

: First coaming was 1 piece and a little unwieldy and the second (2 pieces) had
: no visible traces of the 2" overlap with the second seam. You're
: going to have 1 seam at least anyway you look at it. Two isn't any
: different. Don't starve the glass. I cut my glass 7" wide as it
: narrows as you stretch it when cut on the bias.

: Someones tip on freezing an epoxied brush in a zip lock bag to use later,
: worked like a charm. At least for 1 more use anyway.

: Although it was quite time consuming, it wasn't really that difficult.

: Good Luck - DAVE

BETTER THAN FREEZING EPOXY BRUSHES - WHEN YOU ARE FINISHED EPOXYING - DROP THE BRUSH INTO A GLASS OF VINEGER - THE NEXT TIME YOU NEED THE BRUSH, SIMPLY DRY WITH A PAPER TOWEL AND YOU ARE READY TO GO. NOTE: I USE TWO BRUSHES PER BOAT.
