FWIW, Pygmy has you align the edge of the glass with the sheer on one side - I think mostly an efficient glass use issue. The result is largely parallel glass amidships, with some amount of bias at the ends. My experience was that the glass behaved better towards the ends, particularly during the wet-out. Amidships, the glass tended to want to stay up a little as it went over the chines. Where the fibers hit the chine at an angle, they layed out more smoothly. Very minor thing, though - not something to worry about.

I have absolutely no engineering creds to base this on, but I sense that any overall structural differences would be minor.
