I think Dave Hazen may be suffering from the guilt of having downed his share
of trees when working with the Forest service ? It seems rather ironic that
he still sells a woodstrip kayak building manual, but proceeds to lecture the
rest of us on resource management. It's like the beer companies telling us to
drink responsibly. Probably a bad example as I do like my beers.

The destruction of the forests is virtually unaffected by wood kayak builders,
when compared to the paper manufacturing industry, the construction industry,
and the wholesale export of raw wood materials. I liken it to blaming sport
fishing for the demise of the cod or salmon from our shores.

Hey wait, it's not my fault, I build with aluminum and plastic...It's you other
guys who are to blame. Ha!...Just kidding.

Anyway, "The Strippers Guide...." is still a great book. Instead of downing a
tree, I think it's time to down a beer.
