Just kidding... Actually, any canoe/kayak builder that's concerned with the depletion of trees from our planet because he/she uses a few boards to build a beautiful craft could just use old/used/recycled wood. I use recycled wood, but I do it because I enjoy the search and can pay far less money for, what seems to me to be much better quality, than the lumber of today.

As for the comments on Hazen's site regarding epoxy and fiberglass, I really don't think we're going to have any problems with wood kayaks/canoes in any landfills. There's far worse things that pollute this planet for us to think about, I'm not going to feel guilty for building a boat.

For those that are truely concerned, build one of Tom's beautiful kayaks (no wood, epoxy, or glass), but as for me, it's all about wood and of course epoxy. No offense Tom, you are still truely an inspiration, I just gotta have wood.
