: It sounds to me like you might not of stirred the epoxy enough. I had one
: batch not set up only in certain spots. From then on I made sure that the
: epoxy was stirred very well and didn't have any more problems. The people
: at pygmy advised me to remove all of the uncured epoxy (a cabinet scraper
: worked good) and scrub ( the pads made by 3M did a good job) the area good
: with laquer thinner, then reapply epoxy and fiberglass. I was fortunate
: that I learned this while glassing the inside of the hull. It would
: probably be best to talk to someone at Pygmy. Good luck.
I called Pygmy about this and they say they get the epoxy in 55 gal. drums and package it in smaller sales amounts. So if it was a bad patch there would be more boats out there. If you had they same problem out there, post it.
If it is just us, my take on this, because this was our 2nd boat, first no problems,is System 3 may be more critical than the West or no name we bought for the first kayak. We used new pumps of the same style and did not change the way we did the glass work. I will next time use the two cup style West uses on critical epoxy. You mix alot than pour in to the 2nd cup and mix again.I liked the System 3 they way it worked but will not use it again. The West is very reliable but blushes alot, a bit on the yellow side. The Sys 3 is not yellow enough said little bear, maybe Raka will be just right.
