Sounds like
: you've done this before...so how many more hours would you expect are left
: (other than curing time)? Does the resin tend to contract?..meaning it
: will want to pull away from the forms when the outside is curing? I plan
: to leave it on the forms, but this would suggest a large bar clamp or
: perhaps some staples would help...has this ever been an issue with you?
: Anyone else with suggestions or ideas are welcomed and appreciated.
I always glass the hull before stripping the deck but I have never had any problems with the boat pulling away from the forms. How many hours left? That depends how much work you have left to do. Like cockpit and coaming, hatches, outfitting and varnishing. The epoxy should be left to cure for 1 to 2 weeks before sanding in preparation for varnish. Most spar varnishes go on 1 coat per day so if you apply 4 coats to the hull and 4 coats to the deck that's already 8 days. You should allow the varnish to "cure" before launching the kayak and that's usually a minimum of at least 3 days. You are almost done but this is no time to be getting anxious, you have some serious work ahead.
