Yes, the scenic overlook is up the hill over Sapphire Beach. The island in the background is Thatch Cay, which was recently for sale on Ebay for something like $14 million. It was supposed to have been the highest price auction ever on Ebay. I hope they don't develop it. There's a good lobster spot on the other side.

For paddling Lyndquist is a good launch site convenient to the major cays and to the resorts as well, but secluded enough to be away from the tourists. To get to St. John you can paddle out to Thatch Cay and then follow the cays... Grass Cay, Mingo Cay, Lovango Cay, and cross to St. John avoiding a lot of the boat traffic, and you get all the bluewater and coral reefs on the way. My favorite thing to do is to boat up to Fungi's, which is built on stilts and sits right on the water's edge so you can paddle right up, have lunch, and paddle off.

Arawak Adventures rents kayaks for guided day and half-day trips if you wanted to do a kayak trip here. They also do a week-long trip in Anagada, which is a beautiful island that only sits about 28 feet above sea level. Unilke the other islands, it is not volcanic, but was formed from a coral reef. It's one of the largest coral reefs in the world.
