S&G: Almost done!

Hello all!
Got the first coat of varnish on the Explorer today, The weather is crummy, can't work on the garage, although, I got 3-1/2 walls done...back to kayaks!
Gonna paint the hull.
How long should I wait to mask the transition after varnish is done? I'm using Helmsman varnish and a polyurethane based porch/deck paint..As reccomended by Michael at Newfound.
Thanx for all the help! Will post pics when I get it outside.
