Ken Katz, another Bay Area guy, built one, and it came out very pretty. I think he'd agree with all Shawn's remarks. It is a high volume, straight-tracking boat.

Regarding Rob's plans, I have them for the Shooting Star, and they're very well organized. I think his designs are thoughtful, too, with a lot of "naval architecture" in them. He doesn't seem to care for his spell checker, but that's no problem in his communicating clearly on the page. I'd say, if the boat fits, go for it. You need have no concerns about quality or support.
