: Prior to my gluing the paper patterns to the wood to make the forms I recall
: reading a post on this bulletin board, that others had experienced similar
: problems to those which you describe, using the Elmer spray adhesive. So I
: made sure to buy a different brand. I used 3M without any problems.

Regarding your problem with the jig saw elevating or lifting the pattern from the wood. I believe this is more a function of the manner in which the jig saw cuts, that is on the up stroke of the blade movement (otherwise, if it cut on the down stoke, the saw would constantly be pushed upwards away from the work). I generally cut my forms on a 14 inch band saw. The direction of the movement of the blade is downwards toward the table. As a result, the paper is pushed downwards toward the surface it is glued to rather than lifted upwards like it is with the jigsaw. The paper never comes off, no matter what type of glue you use. For the record I use Elmers spray adhesive. Because it is impossible to manipulate a 4 x 8 sheet of MDF or other sheet good, I rough cut the forms out first with the jigsaw maintaining about a 1 inch margin around the paper pattern. I also find that the cut of the bandsaw is far superior to the cut that one gets with even an expensive jigsaw blade. If you have a bandsaw or have a friend that does try using it, I think you'll like it.
