Both boats are good designs, I have one, a friend has the other. Both building techniques work, both joints hold well.
I did glass the inside of my cockpit on the clc for extra abrasion resistance.
I think from reading how the stresses are on layered construction, that an inner layer of light glass is going into my next boat for best strength.. Mine is a work boat and gets heavy duty. I have seen kayaks 7-8 years old wiht no glass but the seams and epoxy elsewhere that were still in good shape.
