Erik:

Don't you dare quit!!! Press on!!! Like the other post say, you'll fine tune your skills for "THE NEXT ONE". What's the worst that can happen? You can be paddling THIS SUMMER and start a new project this winter for NEXT SUMMER. I just hope to get my Guillemot double in the water by mid July. Paint it if you have to, or if you desire, practice with a few veneer designs on the deck which may help to cover some misguided strips.

You can also determine if the paddling characteristics are to your liking. Hate to build the same boat again and find out that it isn't the right one for you. But best of all, you have an extra boat for a partner. Not all kayakers can say that (except for half of the builders on this KBB site.) That's why I'm building a double. A second won't be needed. Although a single might come in handy....

I bet if you showed us a picture, your overly critical eye of the builder is overstating your view. My vote....Press ON!!!
