You heard correct. This forum is definitely an educator and morale booster thanks to past and current builders. I am only now beginning to realize that I'll probably continue coming here long after my project is done. I really dig all the little offshoots that you can find here through other peoples posts/websites. Stuff like flute building, guitar making, telescope building and airplane construction. I have probably followed more links from this source than anywhere else. I feel sorry for anyone who is building a boat in their woodshop and has a computer/internet access and a refrigerator out there too. That would be a hard thing to walk away from.
