This leaves just the bow and stern
: compartments done only with tape seams. Everything is a tradeoff, Tape
: only on these seams saves weight compared to cloth over the entire area
: and the tape alone is plenty strong.
For the comparatively wider bottom panels on the Ch series the unglassed aft compartment can be prone to developing little cracks between the tape and keel line in some circumstances of normal use. Since heavy items are placed there or kayak carts rested there it's not a bad idea to put some glass there as 9oz glass ending next to unglassed wood leaves a significant difference in rigidity.
