Hi Scott,

I was trying to figure this out last September with my Tern 14. Per Jim at Pygmy, he stated that "For the Tern 14 design you want to go with
the standard large size for best fit". He was responding to a question I asked about the Snapdragon Ocean Trek EZ Supratex model. I have since purchased that model from NWOC and find it to be a perfect fit. In addition, the Supratex maintains a solid hold to the coaming yet seems to be easier to remove than most neoprene skirts I have dealt with.

There are a number of other brands that I am sure are similarly functional. I have heard good things about the Brooks skirts and I know that Pygmy sells those for the Tern 14.

Good luck and enjoy your new boat!

With regard to not using a skirt in mild water, I wouldn't recommend it. It sort of defeats the purpose of a closed deck kayak. Also, the Tern 14 is so responsive that you will probably be leaning it and carving turns regardless of the conditions.
