There's a big article in today's paper on this. See http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/businesstechnology/134864859_weyerhaeuser01m.html Looks like most of our Western Red Cedar is coming from Canada. The article addresses the issue of old growth forests as well.

... one thing that's worth mentioning about these old growth forests. Natural disaster claims a large percentage of these trees. Nobody likes the way a clearcut mars the landscape but storm and (less often) fire claim vast tracts of these forests anyway. These fast-growing, shallow-rooted trees are very often blown down in storms. One of the most striking characteristics of a Pacific Northwest old growth forest is amount of blowdown and second growth that exists.
