Hope this is what you were asking about ...
I used 1" webbing for my deck rigging & used a a small awl (looks like a fat ice pick). to push a hole in webbing. Just keep pushing awl in til it epandss hole large enough to a 1/2-20 bolt through it. No tears & is pretty strong. Get S/S machine bolts with recessed collar washers. Looks good & holds the webbing better than standard washer.

: what is the best way to put a mounting hole in the loops? I question drilling
: might unravel the webbing, being poly I thought about a hot nail or
