Hey, folks. In the Outer Island I'm building, the plans call for an Ocean Cockpit. I've debated modifying it to a keyhole, for no reason other than I've never been in an Ocean Cockpit, and I find myself a bit intimidated by it. I have this nagging fear of not being able to do a re-entry in rough water with such as small cockpit.
Now, to be fair, I've read from others who use them that it just takes a little getting used to, and then they like them just fine. So, I'm going to quit being a pansy, build the OI "as is", and give it a whirl.
But, here's the question... suppose after I've used it for an adequate length of time I decide that Ocean Cockpits just aren't for me. Seems like it would be an easy thing to cut the cockpit out into a keyhole, re-do the coaming and the lip, and voila, no harm done.
Is that the case, or am I overlooking something that would make that decision a poor choice?
Thanks
Rick
